Although heavily involved in their work, they were always attentive and loving to their son. Unfortunately their research would ultimately be what got them killed, having been taken in the middle of the night by a criminal organization that was running rampant in the region. While no one is sure what happened to them officially, its assumed that the criminals kidnapped them for information and were killed whether or not they provided it. Young and with no family left in the region, Lucas was shipped off to Hoenn so that he could live with his Uncle in Oldale Town. A kind man who dedicated his life to protecting Pokémon as a Ranger, Lucas learned a lot from his relative and looked up to him greatly. This was exactly why Lucas became a Ranger when his Uncle ended up dying at the hands of a Shadow Pokémon, the brood of Nihilego. With a passion for helping Pokemon, an interest in honoring his uncle's memory and a detest for Shadow Pokemon, Lucas intends on making sure no one is ever harmed by these aberrations again.
